A proactive personal agent that keeps its understanding of you between conversations, and quietly adjusts work when the source material changes

AspireAI community · Hugging Face blog
A5 is a proactive personal assistant built on a ReAct loop whose plugins and core services add cross-session memory, workspace-change awareness and background knowledge maintenance, so the agent carries past preferences into new tasks, detects when connected context changes and updates its own plan, and proposes next steps instead of waiting to be asked. The design separates a Context index of materials, a Diff Engine that supplies relevant changes, an Autodream process that organises memory during idle periods, a Workspace Wiki with source citations users can correct, and a Proposal Engine that surfaces follow-up work for the user to approve. A technical preview for macOS, Windows and Linux ships now with open source promised later. The honest limit: the authors say the model-level training for proactivity and lifelong context is still an open direction, and the harness is what is actually released.

THE BIG PICTURE
A FRESH PERSPECTIVE

One distance function matched sparse-autoencoder features across layers and compressed feature circuits into supernodes
Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
