Shanghai AI Lab released Atria Dawn: a 744B agentic model that runs the whole research loop, with weights on Hugging Face

AspireAI community · Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (internlm)
The Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory put the full weights of Atria Dawn on Hugging Face and ModelScope on October 23, along with a separate FP8 repo. It is an agentic model built on the 744B-parameter GLM-5.2 MoE foundation, with a 512K context window, MIT-licensed weights and code, and it targets the full loop of problem analysis, solution design, tool use, code implementation, experiment execution, result analysis and failure recovery. The model card reports it leading the field on CyberGym (86.8), SkillsBench (67.8), BFCL V4 (78.4) and Harvey LAB (27.5), while sitting behind frontier models on Terminal-Bench 2.1, SWE-bench Pro and PaperBench. One honest limitation: those are the lab's own self-reported evaluation numbers, and the release is text-in only, so it rejects image input outright.

THE BIG PICTURE
A FRESH PERSPECTIVE
Research
One distance function matched sparse-autoencoder features across layers and compressed feature circuits into supernodes
Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
