Google opened a single console for building apps inside Gemini and Search, with MCP as the integration path and 50-plus apps live

AspireAI community · Google
The preview gives developers one place to build, register, test and track apps that reach users through both Search and the Gemini app, with developers choosing at submission time whether an app goes live in Search, Gemini, or both. Integration runs through a cloud-hosted MCP server or an Android MCP using the AppFunctions APIs, and the Connected Console exposes traffic, latency and error-rate tracking plus control over brand identity, verified logos and authenticated accounts. Google says it has launched more than 50 Connected Apps across productivity, ticketing, health and fitness, with Adobe, Experian, Localiza and Peloton live in Gemini and Calm spanning both surfaces. The honest limit is that access is opening in phases, so a developer signing up now may not reach every market or Google product, and the platform is still a preview rather than a generally available API.

THE BIG PICTURE
A FRESH PERSPECTIVE

One distance function matched sparse-autoencoder features across layers and compressed feature circuits into supernodes
Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
