An agent system evolved a whole recommendation pipeline at Tencent, and a 14-day A/B test found 0.40 percent more clicks

Recursive self-improvement usually runs on reasoning tasks. TGR-EvoDAG applies it to generative recommendation, where the pipeline is a cascade of tokenization, pre-training and alignment modules that have to stay consistent with each other, and it evolves code along a directed acyclic graph so several branches can be explored and merged instead of one linear line. On public Amazon datasets it reported offline gains of up to 37.4 percent and 19.7 percent higher satisfaction in a simulated user environment, and in production at Tencent's media platform the evolved model gave a 12.16 percent relative Hit@1 improvement plus a statistically significant 0.40 percent click-through-rate increase over a 14-day A/B test. The caveats are specific: the satisfaction figure comes from the Agent4Rec simulator rather than real users, the click-through number is Tencent's own deployment result and not independently verifiable, and the whole approach is tuned to one vertical.

Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
