LangChain's Managed Deep Agents added browser use and background subagents, with a Stop button in the Slack thread

AspireAI community · LangChain
Managed Deep Agents v0.10 adds two capabilities agents have needed for a while. Browser use lets an agent work on sites with no API - booking travel, cancelling a subscription, filing a claim - and when a site asks the agent to sign in, the agent hands the human the browser window so the password stays out of the model's messages and traces. Async subagents move long jobs into the background while the agent keeps talking to you; you can ask for a status check or change course, and the result returns to the conversation when the subagent finishes. The release also threads Slack origins through the system, so replies go back to the thread a request started in - including replies from a scheduled run or a late-finishing subagent - and a Stop button in that thread cancels the runs. The limitation is that this is a vendor product release: it describes one platform's feature set rather than a measured improvement, and browser-use agents remain fragile on the sites they automate.

THE BIG PICTURE
A FRESH PERSPECTIVE

One distance function matched sparse-autoencoder features across layers and compressed feature circuits into supernodes
Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
