An embodied agent that can ask for help and remember where it has been reached 100% first-visit success using 1.87 interactions per episode

EvoLife gives a multimodal embodied agent a hybrid action space spanning waypoint navigation, local discrete adjustments, pixel navigation and object-directed navigation, plus the ability to seek clarification when it hits ambiguity, and a persistent spatial memory that binds observations and dialogue to places so later visits benefit. Across eight benchmarks and four task families it reached a 100% first-visit success rate on four 100-episode sets with an average of 1.87 active interactions per episode, 98% complete-sequence success on 50 LHPR-VLN sequences and 94% on 50 GOAT-Bench sequences, while revisit SPL rose from 82.23% to 93.31%. The limitation: the perfect first-visit numbers come from specific benchmark sets, and the paper's own multi-day physical navigation results are demonstrations rather than measured scores.

Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
