Venus-DefakerOne2 widened vision forensics to physical spoofs and AI video, and the authors report new state-of-the-art across six benchmarks

Anti-forgery models tend to cover one slice of the threat space - digital manipulation, still images - which leaves physical spoofing and generated video outside their reach. Venus-DefakerOne2 is a single forensics foundation model trained on tens of millions of open-source and in-house samples, with Tide-Style-Tuning that alternates LoRA and full-parameter fine-tuning and an entropy-based test-adaptation step that picks the prediction modality. The authors report state-of-the-art results including 96.7 percent on deepfake faces, 93.3 percent on AI-generated images, 93.1 percent on physical spoofs and 96.0 percent on AI-generated video. The honest caveat is that this is a technical report from the model authors, with no independent evaluation and no public artifact pointer in the abstract - the numbers are the authors' own.

Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
