REALM gave agents least privilege by separating discovery of an asset from authorization to use it, cutting attack success from 16.6 to 0.2 percent

LLM agents are routinely handed more files, accounts and services than a task actually needs, and prompt injection turns that excess access into a way to redirect execution toward unrelated resources. REALM represents a task's required assets as dependency-graph nodes, resolves prerequisites, and admits newly discovered assets through source-scoped selection, separating discovering an asset from authorizing its use, then exposes resource-bound partial APIs inside a task container. Across 60 clean tasks and 560 injected cases in AgentDyn it completed 40.0% and 36.4% of them and cut attack success rate from 16.6% to 0.2% with qwen3.5-flash as the base model. The trade-off is that task completion under the sandbox is 40.0% on clean tasks and 36.4% on injected cases, and the paper reports no unsecured baseline to compare against.

Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
