GitHub open-sourced Replica, a prototyping tool that builds interactive mockups from your own design system and components
AspireAI community · GitHub Changelog
GitHub Design open-sourced Replica, an MIT-licensed tool that turns natural-language descriptions into interactive prototypes built from a team's own components, patterns and documentation rather than generic ones. Designers set the guidance, and anyone on the team drives it in natural language through the GitHub Copilot app, with an optional self-hosted Replica Hub for publishing prototypes and collecting comments - the repository splits into a Starter project, a Copilot canvas extension, the Hub and a build action. Two practical details worth knowing: the Hub records publishing and review activity in its own database and retains those events for 90 days, and while prototypes can be viewed and reviewed without a Copilot subscription, the documented canvas workflow needs GitHub sign-in and either GitHub-hosted models on a Copilot plan or a bring-your-own provider that is still in public preview.

Two sparse-autoencoder analyses have resisted scaling: matching semantically similar features across layers, and compressing large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes. This paper argues both are the same underlying problem, estimating semantic distances between SAE features that sit on different activation manifolds. Its representation treats each feature not as a single decoder vector but as an activation-weighted distribution over the hidden states expressing it, projects those distributions into a shared reference space, and compares them with Wasserstein distance. The representation is proved invariant to activation rescaling and stable under perturbation, and recovers true matches under finite-sample margin conditions. Empirically it outperformed decoder-vector and LLM-based baselines and captured subtle functional distinctions between related features, and it compressed large feature circuits into interpretable supernodes automatically. The limitation is that this is interpretability tooling: the paper demonstrates better feature matching and circuit compression, not that downstream interpretability claims become more accurate.
